If you want a twist on the “whodunit” genre, you’ll want to turn to Poker Face Season 1. The good news is you can add it to your DVD collection very soon.

While many other TV shows opt for a “whodunit” style of storytelling, Poker Face twisted it all. We got to see who did it and how someone was murdered. What we didn’t get to see was why. That’s something Charlie helped to figure out.

Played by Natasha Lyonne, Charlie has a gift of being able to tell when someone is lying. She uses it to get to the bottom of murder cases, although she’s not officially working for anyone. In some cases, she leaves the murderers with the knowledge that the cops have the information, and in some cases, she’s there to see them being arrested.

Of course, she’d doing it all while on the run. It all started with her figuring out who killed her friend and why. That led to the death of a casino boss’s son, and Charlie was the one blamed for it all. Charlie had to stay one step ahead if she wanted to keep her life.
