Is Susannah in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2?

Since the way the first season ended, we’ve wondered if Susannah would be around for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 or not. Would the book storyline change a little?

Throughout The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2, the parents were keeping a big secret. Susannah’s cancer had returned, and this time, she wasn’t fighting it. That was the reason why Conrad was so withdrawn and angry all the time. He wasn’t happy that his mom was giving up and was hiding things from him. He’d figured things out before the secret came out.

At the end, it looked like Susannah was willing to consider the cancer trial for the sake of her boys. This would mean a change to the book storyline, where Susannah dies in between the books. She isn’t in the second or third books of the series; only mentioned now and then.

Is Susannah going to be in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2?

Well, it looks like the series has adapted this storyline. That makes sense for TV, as a death really does need to be shown on TV to allow us and the characters to fully grieve the process. Susannah is in the teaser trailer for the season.

Of course, this could be flashes of things that happened between the summers. It could even be flashbacks to an earlier time. We see Susannah at a dinner table with her friends, which could mean that she has died at some point in the story.

However, the synopsis suggests that Susannah has decided to fight her cancer for her boys. It says that Conrad and Jeremiah are struggling with both liking Belly and Susannah’s cancer.
