The Horror of Dolores Roach is the new Amazon series coming this week. Is this a series to watch with the kids, or wait for them to go to bed?
We know that Amazon shows drop earlier than they’re promoted. That’s all because the release date is on UK time, and we are behind by a few hours. So, we end up with the episodes in the evening of the day before. That often means having to make a decision of whether to watch the episodes right away or wait for the kids to go to bed.
The new series is a comedy-drama series. The title suggests that it’s a horror, but it’s more of a Sweeney Todd horror than anything else. Think more on the lines of Sleepy Hollow than IT. So, what are we expecting in terms of gore and violence? Will this be a series that the kids could watch with you?
The Horror of Dolores Roach age rating
With the show not out yet, there isn’t an official age rating listed anyway. The promo gives us some sort of idea of what to expect, and we know that this series is based on the podcast series. That podcast series is aimed at an 18 and over audience, so we could probably expect a TV-MA age rating for the series.
That being said, the promo doesn’t suggest that there is going to be a lot of gore. The violence seems to be off-screen, and there is a lot that is more implied than shown. That could be for the trailer’s sake as it needs to work for all audiences, but it could also be a sign of what to expect in the Amazon show.
It is a Blumhouse production, but that doesn’t mean TV-MA. We’ve seen plenty of PG-13 movies, including Megan.
The Horror of Dolores Roach is one of those shows you’ll want to check out on your own first. Then you can decide if it’s right for your children.
The Horror of Dolores Roach is coming to Prime Video on Friday, July 7.
