The Little Mermaid is the latest animated Disney movie to get a live-action remake. When can you add it to your DVD collection?

Ignoring the fact that there is the absolute ridiculousness of the controversy surrounding The Little Mermaid live-action remake, many are very excited to see the story come to life. There are some updated elements to the story—including that of consent!—and we get a chance to see the Disney version of a rather traumatic fairy tale come to life.

You can currently see the movie out in theaters. Of course, eyes are on when we can add this movie to our DVD collections. It has to join our collection of animated movies and live-action remakes. It is likely to do just so, as well.

When will The Little Mermaid come to DVD and Blu-ray?

It won’t be too surprising to hear that the movie doesn’t have a DVD release date just yet. It’s only just out in theaters, and Disney will want to encourage everyone to watch it there. However, it is going to head to DVD, and we can look at the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to get an idea as to when to expect this one.

It took almost three months for Black Panther 2 to come to DVD and three months for Ant-Man 3 to make it to DVD. With that in mind, we’re looking at three months for The Little Mermaid to head to DVD and Blu-ray. We can say that we’ll see it arrive on either Tuesday, Aug. 22 or Tuesday, Aug. 29 depending on which side of the three-month mark Disney wants to work with.

What about a Digital release? While the movie will head to Disney+, we’re sure to see it on Digital, which means we’ll be able to buy it on Amazon Instant Video. It took about two months for the movies to get Digital releases, so we’re looking at some time from the middle to the end of July for this live-action remake.
