Is The Power released weekly or a binge-watch on Prime Video?

What would happen if teenage girls were suddenly able to control electricity? That’s something The Power looks into, and here’s the release schedule.

Naomi Alderman wrote the book in 2016. Now that book is coming to life on the small screen. The Power brings us a story of girls developing abilities. These abilities are hereditary, and there is no way to remove them. When all women start to develop the abilities, the world (read that as mainly men) start to panic.

Of course, there are some people who want to use their abilities for good. Then there are others who want to use their new abilities for evil. Others just want to live their lives. The series follows all of these situations and the reactions of governments and powers of authority around the world.

The Power release schedule

There are nine episodes to the story. Will all nine be available to watch at once? This is where we have some bad news.

The series is another one of Amazon’s binge-watch releases. With the delays due to the pandemic, this probably isn’t surprising or a bad thing. After all, a lot of shows gain traction over the course of weeks and it’s important to have new episodes for people to watch. We’ve seen the likes of Yellowjackets renewed arguably because the weekly release drew people in.

The first three episodes of The Power drop on Friday, March 31. We’ll then get one episode per week until the finale airs on Friday, May 12.

• May 12: Episode 9
