Why isn’t Carnival Row Season 3 happening at Prime Video?
Carnival Row Season 2 has come to an end, and yes that will be the series finale. Why isn’t Carnival Row Season 3 going to happen at Prime Video?
March 17 marks the end of Carnival Row. The final two episodes of the series will air, and it’s time to see if all the storylines will be wrapped up.
We went into this season knowing that it would be the last. This was something we expected considering the long wait for the season and the rumors that sets had been pulled down in Prague. Of course, the big question for many is why a show so good is coming to an end.
Carnival Row Season 3 is probably too expensive
There is no doubt that the cost of making TV shows is going up. We just have to look at broadcast networks and how many are reducing episode counts as a way to save money. Streamers are already on the lower end, so reducing the episode count is much harder to do.
Plus, a show like Carnival Row has a lot of graphics. CGI makes everything more expensive, and then you add in the period costumes and the intricate sets. There is the makeup for the various fae species, which leads to a higher cost, too. Everything was working against this show in terms of costs.
The delays with the pandemic would not make things easier, either. There was always the risk that people wouldn’t tune in as soon as the show dropped, which has been seen with a few shows.
So, partway through production, things changed. The order for the final season came in, leading to script rewrites to bring the tale to an end. Instead of abruptly canceling in the way Amazon did with The Wilds, Amazon decided to give the show a chance to wrap up the story. It was the best option for the fans and the series.
