Is Daisy Jones and the Six based on a true story?
Daisy Jones and the Six looks like it could be a very real story about a rock band. Is that the case? Is this Amazon series based on a true story?
The time is almost here for Daisy Jones and the Six. It has an outstanding cast, including Riley Keough as Daisy Jones, a woman who ends up becoming the lead singer of a rock band. That band is successful and then suddenly it breaks up. Nobody understands why.
It’s only decades later that the band comes back with their story. It’s time for the truth to come out, and a lot of the story is going to sound like the real deal. After all, there are bands that have split during their height and told their stories years later.
So, you’re probably wondering if this Amazon series is based on a true story. There isn’t a band known as Daisy Jones and the Six, but has the name of the band changed to tell the story of another band from the 1970s?
The true story behind Daisy Jones and the Six
The actual story is based on a book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This is a complete work of fiction, but it is inspired by the 1970s rock scene. You’ll see a lot of rock cliches thrown into the book (and the series because of it).
Reid did share that her real inspiration for the story was watching Fleetwood Mac on TV. It is only loosely inspired. Don’t take everything that happens in the story as something that happened to Fleetwood Mac. This was not a way of telling their story in particular.
The story isn’t just that of the band, but a love triangle that (naturally) forms behind the scenes. There are some great moments, though, so don’t let the cliches get you down.
Daisy Jones and the Six is streaming on Prime Video on Friday, March 3.
