Is Wednesday moving to Prime Video for Season 2?

Wednesday is not currently on Prime Video. It’s a Netflix series, but there is talk of the series moving to the Amazon streamer for Season 2. How much of this is a rumor, and how much is true?

We all know rumors spread like wildfire. It’s important to double-check news, especially when it comes to the rumor of a top Netflix show potentially moving to Prime Video.

That’s the current rumor, which may actually hold some truth to it. NME reports that there’s a chance that Netflix won’t get the second season of the top series. Instead, it’s Prime Video that may get it, and it all comes down to licensing and rights.

Why would Prime Video get Wednesday Season 2?

If this is the truth, then why would that happen? Netflix isn’t just going to give up one of its top shows. And that’s what the Jenna Ortega series is.

Well, it’s because Wednesday is an MGM series, and we know back in March 2022, Amazon and MGM merged. That meant a lot of the MGM content moved to Amazon. Not all of it, though. The Handmaid’s Tale is an MGM series, but it took until September 2022 for the show to head over there and it wasn’t exclusive. Hulu still have the series—old and new seasons. It’s still classed as a Hulu Original.

With that in mind, that’s something that we could see happening with this series. Netflix will likely still keep the series, but it may not be exclusive. At the same time, Amazon won’t get exclusive rights due to agreements set up before the merger.

This is something we’ll need to keep an eye on. It would be a huge deal for Amazon to get the rights to the series. As long as the quality remains, we’re here for it as Prime Video fans.

As of right now, Netflix still has Wednesday. Season 2 hasn’t even been confirmed yet, but it’s likely staying on its original streaming platform.
