Amazon is certainly starting the new year with a bang. Prime Video has some great content arriving this week, with The Rig being one of the first new Amazon Originals of 2023. The episodes will drop at midnight local on Friday, Jan. 6 at the very latest.

You’ll want to look out for it around 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Thursday, Jan. 5, though. This will mean the kids are still around, so is this a series to watch with them? It’s worth looking at the official age rating for the series to get an idea.

The Prime Video series is officially rated TV-MA. The Rig age rating is a lot like an R-rated movie; it’s designed for those over 18. That being said, it’s going to be up to you when the series is playing in the house.

You may have older children who love this sort of series. It’s a thriller, and it’s going to keep people guessing. If your children coped with The Devil’s Hour, they’ll likely cope with this series too.

The age rating is given for some of the language and frightening scenes within the series. There will also be some violence and gory footage throughout. After all, this is a character-driven story about a group of people stuck in a confined space with no way of communicating to the outside world. It’s a stressful series to watch.
