5 best movies to watch while wrapping Christmas gifts
It’s another Christmas Eve, and you’re likely wrapping those last-minute Christmas gifts. Here are the five best movies to watch this year.
Anyone else leave a lot of their wrapping for Christmas Eve? This is becoming a thing for me on the years I don’t get the kids for Christmas Eve and wait until noon Christmas Day to see them. It means throwing on some movies and working my way through all the gifts that I’ve bought—and the ones I’ve said I’ll wrap for grandparents living overseas.
The best thing about the movie picks is that I don’t have to worry about the kids enjoying them. The kids aren’t around.
What are you putting on this Christmas Eve while wrapping gifts? Here are our top picks for 2022.
5 Christmas movies to watch while wrapping gifts in 2022
Die Hard
Bruce Willis can say what he likes. Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and I will die on that hill. It’s just a great movie for any time of year, but it’s become a tradition to watch on Christmas Eve. What’s not to love with the action, terrible accents, and great one-liners.
By the way, I try to watch Die Hard straight after Love Actually just to see Alan Rickman get his just desserts for what he did to Emma Thompson.
Gremlins
This is another movie that can be debated on whether it’s a Christmas movie or not. It is. Gremlins is set at Christmas.
Who doesn’t love watching a boy have three simple rules to follow only to fail at all of them? Poor Gizmo. He’s the sweetest thing, and then we end up with creatures taking over New York. There’s plenty of entertainment, and it’s not really a movie you’ll need to pay 100% attention to anymore since you’ve seen it plenty of times.
It’s a Wonderful Life
When you need something that is going to make you feel good, you’ll want to watch It’s a Wonderful Life. It’s a great option when wrapping Christmas gifts, as it’s one of those you’ll have watched time and time again so will know the story.
If you haven’t seen the original black and white version yet, put that one on this year. It really is the best.
Home Alone
You want laughter, right? Of course Home Alone is the Christmas movie to turn to. There’s plenty of great and meaningful moments while we get the entertainment of Kevin protecting his home. And I just love the moment his mom gets to him, only for the whole family to rock up a few minutes later. She should have just waited for the flight!
If you’ve got time for the second one, it’s worth putting on. The rest of the franchise isn’t as great, but good for watching while wrapping Christmas gifts.
White Christmas
Finally, it’s one of the movies of the past, White Christmas. Bing Crosby stars as a veteran who travels to a resort for Christmas with a friend. The two are following sisters who they’ve taken a liking to. While there, they realize the resort is owned by their former commanding officer and he’s on the verge of losing it. They need to figure out a way to save it.
This movie is packed with musical numbers. Of course, it’s the last one that you’ll know the best.
