Why is Hunters ending with Season 2 on Prime Video?
Hunters Season 2 is officially going to be the last. Amazon confirmed this when announcing the release date. Why is the show ending after two seasons?
Amazon has been very quiet about some shows. One of those was Hunters. We heard at one point that the U.S. leg of filming had been completed and the show was heading to Europe. That was it. It made it very difficult to figure out where in the production stage it was and when it would arrive on Prime Video.
It also made it hard to even remember the show at times. There is a lot going on in the world. It’s important for streamers and networks to market their shows. Amazon, Netflix, and even Hulu have all been guilty of not doing that well enough.
So, when we heard Hunters Season 2 would be the last, we weren’t all that surprised. We were starting to expect it.
Why is Hunters Season 2 the last?
The question is why it’s the last, and whether it’s ended or if it’s been canceled ahead of the release. It sounds like it’s ending.
When talking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner and creator David Weil talked about bringing Al Pacino’s Max Offerman back into the story. The character was killed at the end of the first season. How is it possible to bring him back? (It’s going to be via flashbacks.)
Weil explained that he and Pacino found a way to bring Max back when they learned that Season 2 would be the last. That suggests that he and Amazon talked about plans. Rather than abruptly cancel the series, it does sound like Weil has made sure there is an ending to this story. It is important considering the nature of the series.
Hunters is coming to Prime Video on Friday, Jan. 13.
