Is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power a binge-watch?
After such a long wait for The Lord of the Rings TV series, you’ll want to devour it immediately. Is that going to be possible? Is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power a binge-watch or weekly release?
When it comes to The Lord of the Rings, we would prefer to binge watch the entire season. After all, it’s been almost five years since the series was first announced. This is one of those shows we feared would be cancelled partway through the production process due to how long it was taking, especially with the pandemic.
The great news is the series drops on Prime Video at the end of this week. Now the question is whether we’ll get to watch all episodes at once or not. What type of release schedule is this series getting?
Is The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power getting a weekly release?
Amazon isn’t consistent with the way the shows release on Prime Video. Some shows will get a hybrid release, getting a group of episodes at once and then a weekly release after that. Others shows will get a weekly release with two episodes each week dropping. Then there are others that get a binge-watch releases.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is not going to be a binge-watch. It’s getting a hybrid release with the first two episodes dropping at once and then the remaining eight episodes arriving weekly.
Of course, viewers have become used to the binge-watch release. It’s not the best for a TV show, though, especially a show that is costly to create. A binge-watch leads to people talking about the show for a couple of weeks and then the interest dwindling.
With a weekly or hybrid release, the shows stay the topic of conversation for a couple of months or so. It’s much better to secure future seasons. Of course, Lord of the Rings doesn’t need to wait for a renewal. We already know a second season is happening, but a strong start will help to renew this series for a third season and more.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres on Friday, Sept. 2 on Prime Video.
