It’s time for the book adaptation series we’ve all been waiting for. The Summer I Turned Pretty is coming to Prime Video tonight.
As soon as we found out The Summer I Turned Pretty was being adapted into a TV series at Prime Video, we were excited. Jenny Han’s books are outstanding, and we’re still impressed with the Netflix movie adaptations of the To All the Boys books.
Now it’s time to check out the series, which we already know is renewed for Season 2. The Summer I Turned Pretty is coming to Prime Video tonight at midnight GMT. As this is a global release, the time zones work in our favor.
There’s a good chance that we’ll see the episodes drop at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. This isn’t a guarantee, but it happens far more often than it doesn’t.
What is The Summer I Turned Pretty about?
The series follows Lola Tung as Belly, a teenage girl who finds herself struggling to pick between two boys. These boys turn out to be brothers, which is sure to set up a summer of drama and heartbreak. It also means a lot of fun and love.
Following the storyline of the book of the same name, the series sees Belly head out on her annual summer vacation. It’s a trip to the beach house that her family friend’s parents own. That’s where she comes across her friend’s two brothers, Jeremiah and Conrad.
There are two important themes running through the book that we’re going to see in the series. The first is the coming-of-age theme, which is popular for YA novels. We need to see the changes in the teenage years so that those watching feel like they’re heard and understand what’s going on. As the trilogy of books continues, this becomes a bigger theme, and we’re sure to see it in the TV series.
The other theme is independence. Belly learns to make her own decisions, and she learns when to listen to authoritative figures and when she needs to go out on her own. Sometimes she needs to make her own mistakes so she can learn from them, and we all experience that in life.
