Sonic the Hedgehog 2 DVD and Blu-ray release date confirmed

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has been a highlight in theaters for the kids. We now know when we can own Sonic 2 on DVD and Blu-ray.

There is o doubt that you’re ready to see the showdown between Sonic and Knuckles. So are the kids. While you can still watch it in theaters, you’ll want to own it on DVD and Blu-ray.

We have some great news. The DVD release date is now officially set. It’s much later than we initially thought, but at least we know when it is going to arrive. The Digital release date is much earlier.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 DVD and Blu-ray release date

We expected the DVD release date to be sometime in June. If Paramount Pictures was going back to the original way of doing DVD releases, we would have said July. Instead, we’re waiting until August for the movie to head to DVD and Blu-ray. Tuesday, Aug. 9 is the official release date. This later date suggests that Paramount Pictures if very happy with the performance in theaters.

You can currently pre-order Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on DVD and Blu-ray via Amazon. This is the best way to get the lowest price. It doesn’t matter what you agree to pay now, you’ll get the lowest price all the way up to the release date.

What about if you want it on Digital? We do have some excellent news. The movie was released on Digital last week, Tuesday, May 24. You can head to Amazon Video to buy the movie right now, and it will be added to your Amazon Library. It stays there for that one price for as long as Amazon stands.
