Will there be a Season 2 of Carnival Row?
After a long wait, fans will finally see their favorite detective and faerie duo on screen again. Carnival Row, an Amazon Prime Video original series, written by Travis Beecham (Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans) following the lives and mysteries of the residents of the Burge, both human and fae alike.
Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom), Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevigne), and the rest of the Burge will be back on our screens with the return of Carnival Row Season 2, but fans are all wondering the same thing…when!?
When the world was thrown into the COVID-19 pandemic, filming was halted in March 2020 and wasn’t able to resume until January 2021, which Cara Delevigne confirmed with a quick Instagram post. Another delay occurred, but for a much happier reason when Bloom welcomed his first child with fiancée, Katy Perry. After much-needed family time, Bloom was able to return to Prague, and wrap filming in September of 2021 according to a farewell post posted to Bloom’s Instagram. Nearly three years later fans are still left wondering when Carnival Row will be returning.
When will Carnival Row Season 2 come to Prime Video?
With filming wrapped up, the cast and crew have returned home, and now it is in the hands of post-production. Rumor has it that Season 2 will drop in August 2022, a full three years after the series initially aired. With no release date announced we are left with another question: how is it going to be released?
In 2019 when Season 1 of Carnival Row was released, Prime Video dropped the entire season at once, but with the growing popularity of weekly releases, will they make the shift? They have had a lot of success with other shows on the network, like the Boys, using a hybrid model, dropping the first three episodes at once and doing a weekly release for the remainder of the series.
It would be my guess that this is the route they will take to help build excitement around the return of the series. The only thing we know for sure, is we have no idea when or how Prime Video will be releasing Carnival Row Season 2.
