Will Amazon save Batwoman?
The CW canceled a lot of its lineup, and Batwoman is on the list. Could Amazon step in to save Batwoman? Is that even possible?
We’re used to NBC and FOX making some of the biggest and saddest cancellation decisions each year. This year, that goes to The CW. Thursday, May 12 brought a string of cancellations, and those cancellations arrived after the cancellations of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow.
Now we start looking at streamers to save the shows. We’re looking at Batwoman right now. Is there a chance that a streaming platform will step into this series?
Amazon likely won’t save Batwoman
There is some bad news to share. Batwoman‘s cancellation is likely final. It doesn’t look like the production studio is looking to shop the series around, and that’s linked to the reason for the cancellation. It wasn’t The CW’s decision at all. It came from the production studio, which is no longer interested in running the series.
Without a production studio, it’s hard for a series to be made. That’s even if there was a streamer willing to save it.
If someone was going to save the series, it probably wouldn’t be Prime Video. There aren’t that many traditional superhero shows on the streamer. We just have to look at how The Boys and Invincible are the two top superhero shows, and they’re nothing like anything from the Arrowverse.
The episodes already head to HBO Max. This is the streaming platform that would be most likely to save it if there was a production studio that wanted to keep it going.
It is certainly going to be disappointing news for fans of the series. We’ll have to hope that there is somehow some renewed interest in the series to be able to save it.
Batwoman is available to stream on HBO Max.
