Will Amazon save Legends of Tomorrow?
Legends of Tomorrow has been abruptly and unfairly canceled by The CW. Will Amazon step in to save the Arrowverse series?
There has been some devastating news for fans of many CW shows. A bulk of the lineup on the network was canceled, and a lot of that started with the cancellations of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow.
Legends of Tomorrow was a campy superhero series, but it was fun because of that. After seven seasons, it has come to an abrupt end—and there’s no doubt that we have questions because of that major cliffhanger. Now our eyes are on whether a streamer could save the series.
We’ve seen streamers save shows in the past. Amazon is no stranger to stepping in. When Syfy canceled The Expanse abruptly, it found a new home at Prime Video. Could Legends do the same thing?
Could Amazon save Legends of Tomorrow?
We would love nothing more than to see the DC series get saved. It would work toward a lot of Prime Video’s audience. There is a following for the fantasy and sci-fi shows. However, Amazon stepping in is unlikely.
If the series was going to be saved by anyone, it would likely be HBO Max or Netflix.
Legends of Tomorrow streams on Netflix after the seasons finish on The CW. This was part of a deal in the past, and we’ll see the show remain on Netflix for a few years now. It would make a lot more sense for Netflix to step in and give the series a swan song season.
The show is a Warner Bros. production. Since WarnerMedia has HBO Max, it would make sense for that streamer to save the show. There would need to be some sort of deal to bring the current seasons from Netflix to HBO Max, but that would be something easier to work out than Amazon trying to get the content.
It doesn’t sound like the series is being shopped around at this time. That doesn’t mean it can’t be, but it’s unlikely that Amazon will save Legends of Tomorrow.
