You know all about Firestarter by Stephen King. Now it’s time to watch the newest movie telling the story.

You’ve likely already seen the original movie based on the book. Now it’s time for the rebooted movie starring Zac Efron and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. The plot is pretty much the same, with modern-day graphics to tell the tale.

Armstrong plays Andy, a young girl who was once tested on and developed psychic powers to control fire. When she hits the age of 11, her hormones start to take off. Naturally, that leads to her struggling to control this ability.

It also turns out that a mysterious operative is after Andy. This operative will track down her family to get her back, but her dad will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Firestarter is out in theaters, but when will it arrive on DVD and Blu-ray? We don’t have an exact date yet, but we can look at other releases from the same production studio to get an idea.

Firestarter DVD release date predictions

This movie comes from Universal Pictures, so we’re looking at The 355 and Marry Me for ideas of a release date. It took about six weeks for both movies to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray. They were releases during the most recent wave of the pandemic, which could have affected the release date.

Keeping the six-week release date in mind, we’re looking at sometime around the end of June. If Universal Pictures wants to return to a more traditional release format, we’re probably going to be looking at July or August. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on this.

While the movie will come to Digital, it is also going to head straight to streaming. You can watch Firestarter on Peacock.
