While we wait for The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5, there is some great news. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 is coming to DVD, and here’s what to expect.

Disclaimer: We received a review copy of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 DVD for the purpose of this post.

There is the option of watching all four seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu. What if you don’t want to keep the subscription going all the time? You can get the series on DVD instead, and the fourth season is out on Tuesday, April 5.

Season 4 picks up off the back of the Season 3 events. June and the other handmaids had managed to get some of the children and marthas out of Gilead. However, it came with a price, and that was June being shot. Fortunately, they were able to find help, but it would only be a matter of time before they were caught.

That doesn’t mean the fight for survival stops. June will do whatever she can to get Hannah back, but she finds she needs to do that from outside of the country. Yes, this season finally sees June make it to Canada.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 DVD review

The DVD is great for those who don’t want to keep their Hulu subscription running. However, it’s worth pointing out that there are no bonus features to the boxset. This is disappointing, as there are so many things that a show like this could talk about. Wouldn’t it be good to have some sort of farewell feature for all those who end up dying throughout the series? This season features some major deaths!

It would also be good to have a featurette for June getting to Canada. It’s taken four seasons to get to this point, and it was a huge moment. It doesn’t just give her some freedom, but she has to deal with the trauma of the events from her time in Gilead. And that’s a lot of trauma!

However, all we get are the 10 episodes of the series:

  1. Pigs
  2. Nightshade
  3. The Crossing
  4. Milk
  5. Chicago
  6. Vows
  7. Home
  8. Testimony
  9. Progress
  10. The Wilderness

The price does reflect the fact that it is just the episodes. It’s retailed at $19.98 in the United States and $24.98 in Canada, but the prices are lower online now. The episodes are split over three DVDs.

Season 4 is only coming to DVD at this time. It is disappointing for those who have the first three seasons on Blu-ray.
