There is no doubt that fans will be disappointed by the recent news. However, at least we’re going into the fourth season knowing whether to expect an ending or not.

Prime Video has renewed Mrs Maisel for Season 5, according to TVLine. However, it came with the disappointing news that Season 5 would be the last. Many fans may have expected this news based on previous comments from creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino.

Why is Mrs Maisel Season 5 the last?

What’s the issue when Mrs Maisel is one of Prime Video’s top shows? This doesn’t quite sound fully like a Prime Video decision. It could be one from around the production. It could also be a decision made out of the pandemic.

Back in 2020, Sherman-Palladino did share that she didn’t want to “overstay [their] welcome” when it came to the run of the series. Midge eventually has to reach the end of her journey. As much as the creators are enjoying the storytelling, all good things do need to come to an end.

In 2020, she didn’t know how many episodes it would take to get there. Two years later, it looks like everyone has decided that Mrs Maisel Season 5 should be the endpoint.

When is Mrs Maisel Season 5 coming to Prime Video?

We don’t have many details about Season 5 just yet. We don’t even know what the storyline will be. The Season 4 finale won’t air until Friday, March 11!

However, we’re not expecting it in 2022. We could expect the season in 2023, as there shouldn’t be issues with filming and the pandemic anymore.

As for episode count, eight is the likely number. Season 2 did have 10 episodes, but the series has been at eight for the other three seasons. We’d love to see a slightly longer season as a goodbye, though!
