We’ll get episodes released each week. However, it’s not the same as usual where a bulk of episodes come out in the first week and then we get one episode per week.
Instead, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel Season 4 will release two episodes each week. That means we’re getting the first two episodes on Friday, Feb. 18. After that, we’ll get two episodes over the course of three more weeks.
There are eight episodes in total.
Who decided on the release format?
It looks like this was a Prime Video decision on the surface. This is different to The Boys, where it was a creative request from the series and Prime Video went along with it. With the success that saw, more shows have had the hybrid release model.
Did the Mrs Maisel showrunners want a binge-watch? The simple answer is no.
Amy Sherman-Palladino told TVLine that she and her co-creator and husband Dan Palladino love the decision. The series is dense, and opting for this two-episode per week format will allow more people to dissect each episode and enjoy it more.
She also shared that nobody should watch Mrs Maisel in one or two sittings. She doesn’t even think the TV journalists should do that. So, she’s more than happy with the decision from Prime Video.
