Lord of the Rings is not coming to Prime Video in February 2022
Are you ready to delve back into the world of Lord of the Rings? The Amazon series is coming in 2022, but it’s not going to be this month.
There’s no doubt that we’re excited to see Lord of the Rings on Prime Video. The bad news is that we’re not getting it this month.
Of course, we weren’t expecting it. That didn’t stop us from double-checking the list of releases on the platform just in case. We hoped that there would be some sort of surprise, but that’s not the case.
Lord of the Rings release date on Prime Video
The good news is we will get the new series this year. Prime Video has already confirmed that Lord of the Rings is coming in September 2022—Sept. 2 to be exact.
We did get an update about the series recently, though. The series now has an official title. It’s going to be called Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The title is very much like the movies, and it will likely be shortened to The Rings of Power at this point.
Prime Video also revealed a little about the storyline. It’s going to be set centuries before the movies/books take place. While we watched the fight over one ring, there were more out there. The new series will follow the creation of the rings, and why they were so important.
The series will bring us the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron. We’ll also get to see the last alliance between Elves and men created, which we know was brought up in the books and movies. This is a chance to delve deeper into the mythology of the world and understand the conflicts better.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is coming to Prime Video on Sept. 2.
