The first week of January brought a little movement on the list of most read Amazon books. Here’s a look at the Top 20 list.

There wasn’t anything new that made it onto the list of most read Amazon books between Jan. 2 and 8. That doesn’t mean there wasn’t any movement at all.

The Top 5 mostly remained the same as last week. The only difference was that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling gained a spot and Dune by Frank Herbert dropped a spot. That’s not surprising as the Harry Potter books tend to remain the top books read each week and usually get knocked down due to current releases or movie/show adaptations.

In fact, the Top 10 almost remained the same. The only change was Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir getting back into the Top 10. It gained a spot to get into 10th place, knocking Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling down a spot.

The Last Wish reenters, The Great Hunt moves up

There was one new addition to the list, but it wasn’t a new book. The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski reentered the list in 16th place. This isn’t surprising with The Witcher Season 2 releasing on Netflix at the end of December. The book also reentered on the list of most sold Amazon books the previous week.

We also saw The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan move up two spots to get into the Top 15. This is the second book in The Wheel of Time series, so it moving up the list isn’t surprising. Fans of the series may be reading ahead now knowing that The Wheel of Time Season 2 is happening.
