Not only do we have a new month, but we have a new year coming. There are some great Amazon movies to check out in January 2022.

There are so many great movies on Amazon throughout January that the full list is going to be overwhelming. You’ll want to cut down that feeling with just the top five picks.

There is something for all interests and needs this month. Amazon has some excellent originals arriving, and there are some great third-party movies for adults and children alike.

This list is in release date order. It’s simply impossible to compare the genres of Amazon movies next month.

The Descendants

It’s not often that a Disney movie will head to Amazon Prime Video. Take advantage of this one while you can. The 2011 movie is a great option for the whole family. Yes, there are also some great moments for the adults.

The movie is set in the world of fairytales. We follow the children of four villains as they head to the school for the children of the princesses and princes. Can they prove that they’re not as evil as their parents?

The Tender Bar

J.R. Maguire moves into his grandfather’s house in search for a father figure. He finds that in his Uncle Charlie, a charismatic bartender who introduces J.R. to the colorful world of the bar’s regulars.

The movie follows J.R. as he grows up into a young man and chases dreams of his own. All he wants is to become a writer, but does he get the support of the people around him? Do you always need the traditional family unit to be a success?

Hotel Transylvania: Transformia

It’s the family movie everyone has been waiting for. Initially, Hotel Transylvania 4 was supposed to be on Amazon Prime Video in October 2021 but it was pushed to January 2022. This is not a movie to miss out on.

Van Helsing turns up with a contraption that turns the monsters human. It also turns Johnny into a monster. At first, it seems great for Johnny, but eventually, he and everyone else wants to turn back to their normal selves. They need to work with Van Helsing to fix the machine before it’s too late.

A Hero

We’ve all been in debt at some point in our lives. A Hero follows one convict who gets a two-day pass out of prison. He uses that time to try to get his creditors to forgive his debt.

Of course, creditors never want to forgive debt. Things don’t go as planned for this one man, but just what does it lead to when he’s on a two-day pass from prison? Can a good deed go unpunished?

Needle in a Timestack

The last of the Amazon movies for the month stars Cynthia Erivo and Leslie Odom Jr as Janine and Nick. They have a life of bliss until Nick’s ex-girlfriend turns up and tries to tear them apart.

Nick’s memories and reality start to disappear around him. He needs to decide whether he’s willing to sacrifice in an attempt to save everything he loves. Is it best just to let go?
