Is The Wheel of Time Season 2 coming in 2022?
The Wheel of Time Season 2 is most definitely happening. The question now is whether it will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2022 or not.
The great news is that we went into The Wheel of Time without worrying about how it ended. Cliffhangers would be resolved and questions would be answered. We already knew that a second season had been ordered.
The Season 1 finale has now aired. That means we’re heading into a break. There isn’t a new episode of The Wheel of Time this week. But how long will be need to wait for new episodes of the series?
The Wheel of Time Season 2 premiere date predictions
Amazon Prime Video has not yet confirmed when the second season will premiere. That’s not too surprising. It is early days right now.
What we do know is that The Wheel of Time Season 2 won’t premiere in 2021. Nor will it premiere in January 2022. We’re not expecting it for some time.
The season is still filming. After filming, the show will need to go through the post-production stage, and that can take months for a series like this. We could be looking at six to eight months at the bare minimum.
Most Amazon shows take between 14 and 18 months, which would actually take us into 2023. With the early renewal, there’s a chance that wait time can be reduced, meaning the end of 2022 is possible.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 will likely get a hybrid release
Whenever it premieres, get ready for a hybrid release again. Amazon Prime Video has been testing the waters with weekly releases, and they’re working for the success of the shows. More and more shows, especially the biggest ones, are getting this type of release format and we’re expecting more of this in 2022 and beyond.
That means The Wheel of Time Season 2 is likely to get a similar release format to Season 1. Expect the first three episodes to be released at once and then the rest of the episodes to come out weekly.
