5 best Amazon movies for the weekend

Below are some great Amazon movies to watch during your holiday weekend.

Being The Ricardos

The recently released Amazon original Being the Ricardos is one movie you want to watch this holiday season. In the biographical drama, Nicole Kidman portrays Lucille Ball to Javier Bardem’s Desi Arnaz.

You know Desi and Lucy from their series I Love Lucy, but this movie tells a deeper story of their relationship as real-life husband and wife. Their relationship wasn’t always sunshine and roses. They experienced a crisis that affected their relationship and the beloved series.

The movie also stars J. K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, and Jake Lacy.

Sabrina (1995) is a remake of the original Billy Wilder film from 1954 based on a play. Sabrina (Julia Ormond) is a chauffeur’s daughter for the wealthy Larrabee family. She has always looked at their lives dreaming of being part of their world. She has loved the youngest son David (Greg Kinnear), for her whole life, but sadly he has never noticed her.

The story goes on to tell of Sabrina’s adventures in Paris and her return to the Larabee home to visit her father. She has now experienced some of the world and has grown into a sophisticated and attractive woman. Will David notice her now?

This is an incredibly romantic movie, and Ormond does a fantastic job portraying Sabrina.

Merry Friggin’ Christmas

Merry Friggin’ Christmas is a dark comedy that was initially released in 2014. Boyd Mitchler (Joel McHale) finds himself spending Christmas with his estranged family.

Boyd, traumatized as a child by his alcoholic father Mitch (Robin Williams), has made it his mission to ensure his children have a loving and caring father. When Boyd and his wife Luann (Lauren Graham) realize they left their son’s presents at home, he prepares to travel the many miles to retrieve them and return before Christmas morning. His father joins him on the journey, and Mitch is faced with some hard truths about his relationship with his son.

This isn’t your typical Williams film, but fans will enjoy seeing him in one of his last film roles.

Jingle All the Way

A fun family Christmas comedy, Jingle All the Way was inspired by the Christmas toy sellouts for the season’s most popular toys.

The story pits two fathers against one another in the hunt for their sons’ most sought-after gift of the season. Like many parents, Howard ( Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Myron (Sinbad) wait until the last minute to obtain the Turbo-Man action figure for their child’s Christmas present to find they are sold out everywhere. The story continues as they become more desperate in their attempts to give their child a happy Christmas.

Christmas is Canceled

Christmas is Canceled is a holiday comedy starring Hayley Orrantia, Dermot Mulroney, and Janel Parrish.

Since Emma’s (Orrantia) mother died two years prior, she has felt the need to care for her father, Jack (Mulroney). This year she heads home to spend the holidays with him to learn that he is now dating her high school frenemy Brandy (Parrish). This is not the Christmas wish she asked for, and she decides to do whatever it takes to break them up before Christmas, which is four days away.

It is a fun Christmas movie that will remind you a bit of Just Friends.
