What is The Expanse Season 6 about?
The Expanse Season 6 begins tonight. It’s the beginning of the end, but what can we expect to happen in this final season?
Here we are. The Expanse Season 6 premieres tonight, and there’s no doubt that you’re ready to see what’s to come.
Okay, it’s a bittersweet moment. This is the beginning of the end. Amazon confirmed that The Expanse Season 6 is going to be the last season. This is a production decision, meaning the season has been written as the last season and there won’t be any major cliffhangers.
The story follows that of the books. The reason why production has decided to end at this point in the books instead of continuing the story would be a spoiler for how this season is likely to end. We’ll leave the reasons for another post, but they do make a lot of sense.
What to expect on The Expanse Season 6
The important question is what The Expanse Season 6 is going to be about. What can we expect during the six episodes of the final season?
The season will pick up where Season 5 left us. Marco has his Free Navy and he wants to go up against Mars and Earth. It’s time for him and his Free Navy to get back for the decades of being forced to be effectively slaves for the inners.
Of course, the Inners don’t want to change anything. They also don’t want the war that Marco wants. They don’t want to see the casualties, so they will do what they can to protect as many people as possible. Avasarala, the Roci team, and possibly Drummer will come together to take down Marco.
What about Felip? Will he see through his father’s mission? Will he end up helping Naomi take down Marco and save the universe?
While all that goes on, there’s the case of the Mars ships that went through the rings at the very end of Season 5. They’ll head to another planet to start afresh, but what’s actually going to happen there? Will those rings get closed off permanently in some sort of way?
The Expanse Season 6 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Dec. 10.
