I Know What You Did Last Summer is heading to Amazon Prime Video at the end of the week. Is it a series suitable to watch with kids around?

The horror series is billed as a YA series. That usually means that it’s good for teenagers. We just have to look at the likes of The Wilds and Panic to see how they can be suitable for some teenagers.

It is possible to create horror for teens. Is that’s what has happened here? Will you be able to watch this YA series around your kids, or do you have to wait for them to go to bed first?

We need to look at the I Know What You Did Last Summer age rating to find out. Your teens may be disappointed.

The series is rated TV-MA in the United States. This is the equivalent of an R-Rated movie, which makes sense for something like I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The series does involve a serial killer after all. It involves teenagers dying, so there is sure to be a bunch of violence and gore. It just probably isn’t quite on the level of The Boys. Think of it more like the level of the original 1997 movie starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.

When you look around the world, you’ll see similar ratings. Canada has an 18+ rating, just like Australia, Spain, and Italy.

Of course, whether you let your children watch the series or not is up to you, though. You’re the parent, and you’ll know what your children are like. I can tell you now I was watching the R-rated horror movies when I was 14 or 15. All it did was make me enjoy horror movies all the more to the point where now I adore them.

I’m not saying to let your teenager to watch it, though. I’m just saying you know what your teens can handle.
