Hotel Transylvania 4 is not coming to Amazon in 2021

When you realized that Hotel Transylvania 4 wasn’t on Amazon in October 2021, you would have been understandably disappointed. There’s going to be a bit of a longer wait for the movie.

There is certainly no doubt that you were disappointed and frustrated to find out that Hotel Transylvania 4 hadn’t made it to Amazon Prime Video at the start of the month. That was the initial date announced when we learned the movie was coming exclusively to Amazon Prime Video.

It turns out the release date announcement was premature. As we previously reported, Sony and Amazon hadn’t hashed out all the details when deciding to move the movie from theaters to exclusively on streaming.

Now we know that the fourth movie in the Hotel Transylvania franchise isn’t going to arrive in 2021 at all. We have to wait until the new year, and it’s certainly disappointing considering October would have been the perfect month for this movie.

Hotel Transylvania 4 is heading to Amazon Prime Video in 2022

According to Deadline, there is now an official release date for the movie. We can expect it on Friday, Jan. 14.

This is a global release. It will be available to stream in 240 countries and territories on that date only on Amazon Prime Video. It’s not going to be released in theaters. This is despite Sony making a deal with Netflix for all movies to head to that streaming platform in 2022.

Why isn’t it arriving this year? That’s not clear. All we do know right now is that the Oct. 1 date was changed to avoid clashing with The Addams Family 2. Sony didn’t want to have to make the movies compete with each other in this uncertain time with the pandemic.

There’s a bit of a wait, but it’s going to be worth it.
