Cruel Intentions reboot series in the works for IMDb TV

IMDb TV is looking to add another reboot to its list of original programming. The streamer is eyeing a Cruel Intentions reboot.

This is certainly not the first time you’ll have heard about a Cruel Intentions reboot series. There was an attempt to bring a sequel to the movie to NBC. The pilot didn’t get picked up to series, though.

Now eyes are on whether IMDb TV will pick up the new attempt to reboot the 1990s movie. This is going to be different to the initial plan to bring a sequel series to the movie.

Cruel Intentions will reboot the entire story

The IMDb TV series is going to be a complete reboot, and it is based on the original novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos.

Rather than focused on high school kids who are clearly way too old to be in high school, the series will be set in a college. The focus is on the Greek system within a Washington D.C. college, and the target is going to be the Vice President’s daughter.

It will all start with a hazing incident gone wrong. This incident will threaten everything about the Greek system at the college, and it’s going to be up to the students to put things right. Of course, this brings our favorite menacing step-siblings in as they figure out how to cause more trouble without getting caught.

From the sounds of things, the storyline is going to follow the original movie. It’s just set in a college instead of a private school.

Nobody has been cast yet. Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman will helm the project, with Fisher writing the pilot and Goodman supervising, according to Deadline. This hasn’t not been picked up straight-to-series yet. IMDb TV will want to see the pilot before agreeing to more.
