Amazon Prime Video has another great sci-fi action thriller coming your way. Encounter is a film you won’t want to miss.

The film was originally titled Invasion and is directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Michael Pearce (Beast). The film was written by Pearce and Joe Barton (The Ritual). The information that is currently available doesn’t give a lot of details about this film, which isn’t always a bad thing. It is nice to be surprised and not always know every aspect of a film.

The film saw its world premiere at the 48th Telluride Film Festival on Sept. 3 to positive reviews sighting Riz Ahmed’s performance (no surprise there), the score, and the overall film theme of a love story between a father and his sons.

Encounter release date

Amazon Prime Video will release Encounter on Dec. 10. Be sure to mark this one down, so you don’t forget about it.

Encounter cast

The film stars Sound of Metal star Riz Ahmed, and he is joined by actress Octavia Spencer known for her role in Hidden Figures.  It also stars Janina Gavankar, Rory Cochrane, and Lucian-River Chauhan.

Encounter synopsis

Two young brothers are on the run with their father, Malik Kahn (Ahmed), an ex-Marine, who is trying to protect them from an inhuman threat. The boys are faced with leaving their childhood behind as they face a new reality that is surrounded by danger.

Encounter teaser

The teaser below is amazing as it doesn’t give much away as far as what this film is exactly about. Too often, we feel we have seen the whole film after viewing a teaser or a trailer. We see the trio is in a world of danger, and it is an action-packed film. But we can also see it is an emotionally charged film as the father and sons must do what they can for survival.
