After entering on the low side of the list of most sold Amazon books during the previous week, The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny soared up. There was plenty of movement elsewhere with new entries, too.

When The Madness of Crowds entered in 20th place during the previous week, it was a little disappointing. We’d hoped for much more for Louise Penny’s new novel. Well, we just had to be a little patient.

The novel, which entered the list of most read Amazon books last week, climbed 19 places during the last week. It’s taken over the top spot on the list, knocking Billy Summers by Stephen King off. The horror novel actually dropped two places, landing in third place last week.

The Top 5 changed slightly. As It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover lost a spot, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir gained a spot to fill the last two places in the Top 5 respectively.

Four new books on the list

There were four new additions to the list, with two of them getting into the Top 10. The Casanova by T.L. Swan and The Love Songs of W.E.B. Du Bois by Honoree Fanonne Jeffers entered in sixth and seventh place respectively.

It won’t be too surprising if The Casanova takes a tumble during this week. Romance novels like these tend to be on the list right away and then fall off quickly.

The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn and Perfect Grump by Nicole Snow are others that have entered this week, but they will likely fall off the list this week. They entered in 15th and 17th place respectively.

The biggest drop goes to The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, which lost five places. It holds onto a Top 10 spot, though. Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty, which unsurprisingly reentered the previous week, has already seen a drop. It’s out of the Top 15, but will it move back up as the Hulu series continues?
