The Boys Season 3 is not coming to Amazon in September 2021

Are you ready for more from your favorite non-good-guy superheroes? There’s still a bit of a wait for The Boys Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video.

We’ve double-checked the list of new releases on Amazon Prime Video next month and there’s just bad news. The Boys Season 3 wasn’t on the list at all. We’re still waiting a little longer.

That’s not all too surprising. Production is still ongoing in Toronto at the moment. If filming is still happening, there’s no way of getting the show. Then there’s the post-production work afterward.

With all this in mind, when can we expect the new season? Here’s what we can predict so far.

The Boys Season 3 release date predictions

Right now, we don’t have an exact date. However, we’re not expecting the new season to arrive in 2021. Even if the show wrapped filming within the next couple of months, it could take at least six months work in post-production to get it ready.

Amazon shows usually take about 14 to 18 months between seasons. We’re expecting longer for shows this year though. It took longer to get started with filming due to the pandemic, and episodes are taking longer to film due to the pandemic protocols.

It could be summer 2022 before we get the new season. We’re hoping for sooner, but we’re playing it safe. We’ll keep an eye on the updates as they happen.

One thing we are expecting is another weekly release format. According to The Wrap, Eric Kripke says the weekly release format is the reason for the show getting nominated for Best Drama at the Emmys. The weekly release was a production decision that Amazon agreed on, so we’re certainly expecting the same for The Boys Season 3.
