Who will play Mr. Nancy in Anansi Boys?

Anansi Boys is getting an adaptation on Amazon Prime Video, and the show has found its Mr. Nancy. Who will take on the role?

Orlando Jones is not returning to the role. That’s not all too surprising, and that’s without everything that happened behind the scenes. Anansi Boys calls for an older version of the character, which would mean either aging up Jones or casting someone completely different.

The show has opted for someone completely different. And it’s worth nothing that this isn’t a “recast.” After all, Anansi Boys will have little to do with the STARZ series American Gods. While the book is a spin-off of American Gods by Neil Gaiman, the two TV show productions are completely separate.

The book itself was created after Gaiman talked to Sir Lenny Henry. Henry is writing and executive producing the new series.

Who will play Mr. Nancy on Anansi Boys?

So, who is taking on the role? The Good Fight‘s Delroy Lindo has been cast in the role, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Gaiman has shared his praise for Lindo’s previous works on both stage and screen. He will certainly be a formidable presence on the screen, managing the unpredictability of the character.

Mr. Nancy isn’t the same character we saw developed for the American Gods series. To be honest, that character wasn’t quite everything from the books. Mr. Nancy is described as having “all charm,” but one of his sons views him as a lazy cheater.

Of course, we know there was a side to this character his son Charlie never got to know. He’s a trickster god, and there is a lot of that to come in the series. Anansi Boys is focused on Charlie Nancy, who finds out the full truth about his heritage and the twin he never knew about after he learns of the death of his father.

The story will be told over six episodes in the limited series.
