The Expanse Season 6 is not coming to Amazon in July 2021
If you were hoping to see how the sci-fi series would end this summer, there’s some bad news. The Expanse Season 6 isn’t on Amazon’s releases in July.
There are a lot of questions for The Expanse Season 6. While things ended with the Roci crew (mostly) back together, it wasn’t a fully happy ending. There is a war coming with Marco still out there looking to gather the Belt as one.
This is the final season of the series. While there are more books after the sixth, the creators of the show have opted not to continue with the series and with those stories. This is all linked to the time jump that’s to come and the creators choosing not to age the actors to match the book timeline.
There may be a way to continue the stories, but not in the format that we have it right now. We respect the creators’ decisions. After all, it’s best that a story comes to an end under a creator’s terms than under a network’s terms.
The Expanse Season 6 release date
We didn’t expect the season to be on the list of July’s releases. However, sometimes we just need confirmation of our doubts. We got that when Amazon released the list of July movies and shows and The Expanse Season 6 wasn’t on the list.
According to Midgard Times, the show finished filming during the second week of May. This offers some hope that we could get the season by the end of 2021. We’re looking at December being a potential release month, matching the release of Seasons 4 and 5 on Amazon Prime Video.
However, this will depend on the time it takes to get through post-production. With a show like this, post-production can take months to complete. We want the graphics to look perfect, after all. Don’t be too surprised if the release is early 2022 instead.
The Expanse is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
