Amazon has canceled Utopia, but does that really mean Season 2 won’t happen? Could it be saved? Here’s what we know about Utopia Season 2 so far.

Utopia is about a group of comic book nerds who find a copy of the unpublished sequel to the comic book Dystopia. They’re sure that this comic book tells the future, but the truth is through tiny clues that aren’t always clear until the event happens.

They’re not alone in getting their hands on this comic book. Dark forces are after it, too. Then there’s a mysterious woman who will do whatever she can to get her hands on the comic, but not for the same reasons as everyone else.

Utopia was canceled by Amazon. Fans of the series who wanted their questions answered hoped that someone would pick up the series. That’s unlikely to happen, but never say “never,” right? We’ve seen more surprising things happen in the world.

It’s time to break down what we do know about Utopia Season 2 so far.

Utopia Season 2 release date

Without a confirmed season, it’s impossible to suggest a release date. If the show was picked up today, it would need about 18 months for all stages of production, so we’d be looking at the end of 2022 at the very earliest.

Utopia Season 2 cast

For this series to work, we’d need the cast of Season 1 to return. That would include the following:

  • John Cusack as Kevin Christie
  • Ashleigh LaThrop as Becky Todd
  • Dan Byrd as Ian Ackerman
  • Desmin Borges as Wilson Wilson
  • Christopher Denham as Arby / John Hyde
  • Javon Walton as Grant Bishop
  • Farrah Mackenzie as Alice
  • Cory Michael Smith as Thomas Christie
  • Rainn Wilson as Michael Stearns
  • Sasha Lane as Jessica Hyde

The only one who wouldn’t be able to return would be Jessica Rothe as Samantha considering her character was killed off pretty early in the first episode.

We would definitely need to see more of Sonja Sohn as Katherine Milner, who turned out to be a much bigger player in the dark forces.

Utopia Season 2 trailer

There isn’t a trailer for the season yet, which isn’t surprising considering Amazon canceled the show. We’ll bring one if the second season ever does happen.

Utopia Season 2 synopsis

The second season would continue on from where the first season left things. We’d need to see what Michael Stearns had in mind for the egg that contained the “vaccine” for the “flu” that had all been manufactured to control the Earth’s population.

We would also need to catch up with Kevin Christie, Thomas Christie, Wilson, and Becky, who were all left together during the finale. Wilson had decided that the Christies made sense, but did he actually have a different plan for controlling the world’s population?

Then there’s Grant who had been arrested. Ian and Alice had managed to escape, and they’d need to develop some sort of plan to get Grant out of prison for a crime he didn’t even commit.

Oh, and Jessica made it Home, only to realize that she is a much bigger player in all the diseases that had been manufacturers. What were those children being used for and who is Katherine Milner?
