All eyes are on when we’ll get new episodes of our favorite TV shows. The Expanse Season 6 is one of those shows, but it’s not coming this month.

The Expanse has certainly had a tumulous run. Originally starting on SYFY, the series was canceled after three seasons and then saved by Amazon. It’s now coming to an end with Season 6.

This isn’t a show that Amazon has canceled. The creators are bringing it to an end, and that’s something I can get on board with. I’m always happy to see creators get to make a choice about when and how they bring their stories to an end. Of course, I’m disappointed that there won’t be more of this brilliant series, but this isn’t Amazon bringing the show to an end.

And now we’re looking at when The Expanse Season 6 will come to Amazon Prime Video. It’s sadly not going to be in May 2021.

When is The Expanse Season 6 coming to Amazon Prime Video?

There are plenty of questions after the way the fifth season came to an end. Marco is still out there, and he is threatening an all-out war with the Earthers and the Martians. It’s going to be up to everyone to work together to prevent that from happening.

According to Collider, filming for Season 6 started in February 2021. Production is still going on now, and episodes will take a little longer to film than normal due to the pandemic protocols. It’s unlikely that we’ll get the sixth season before 2021 comes to an end.

We’re potentially looking at the start of 2022 because of the amount of post-production work that will also be needed. And we’re probably looking at the hybrid release model as that has worked out to be successful for various TV shows on Amazon lately.

We’ll be sure to bring you updates as we get them.
