Judas and the Black Messiah and more on DVD and Blu-ray this week
The first week of May is a little quiet when it comes to DVD and Blu-ray releases, but there are a couple of must-haves. Here’s what’s coming.
While there isn’t much, it doesn’t mean there’s nothing to buy. May 4, 2021, sees two big Warner Bros. movies heading to DVD and Blu-ray. One of them is likely a movie that you’ve been waiting for since watching it on HBO Max earlier this year.
Judas and the Black Messiah is the biggest release this week. It comes off the back of Daniel Kaluuya’s Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor. He plays Fred Hampton, a man in Chicago who rose to the leader of that group of the Black Panther Party.
The group is infiltrated by William O’Neal, a Black man who is sent to spy on Hampton and the whole group. The movie tells the story of the spy and the eventual raid by the police and FBI.
The Little Things and more on DVD and Blu-ray
Another Warner Bros. movie to look out for is The Little Things starring Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. A veteran sheriff’s deputy and a detective hunt down a serial killer. As they close in, they realize they don’t have the evidence needed to hold him. Things start to make a turn for the worst when everything gets a little too personal for one of those searching for the serial killer.
The only other new addition is The Virtuoso. Anthony Hopkins stars in this movie about an assassin with one simple job. Of course, the simple job doesn’t work out that well, leading to collateral damage that the assassin needs to pay for. To pay back the debt, the assassin needs to go after a rogue hitman, but the assassin doesn’t have enough information to make an immediate hit. What will he do?
