Is Stowaway good? Should you watch the Anna Kendrick movie?

Yes, Stowaway came to Netflix in the U.S., but it’s on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. Is the Anna Kendrick movie worth watching?

Stowaway isn’t a sci-fi movie. Think of it more like The Martian, focusing on the psychology of being stuck in a place that isn’t designed to keep you alive.

Kendrick stars as Zoe, one of the three-person crew heading to Mars on a two-year mission. They’re supposed to make living on Mars possible, but their mission is put at risk when they find an accidental stowaway.

Is it going to be worth watching the movie? It really does depend on what you want to gain from it. If you’re looking for a space action movie full of hope for the future, this isn’t for you. If you like thrillers set with just a small cast, you’ll want to check it out.

Is Stowaway any good?

Kendrick isn’t the standout in this movie. It’s actually Toni Collette for me. She is the captain of the ship, the one who has to make all the hard decisions. There is a sort of coldness to her character, but it’s not because she’s mean or she thinks everyone else is beneath her. She simply understands the gravity of the situation and what it means to be a captain.

Shamier Anderson is also excellent as he goes through the various emotions. At first, he’s shocked to be on the ship and wants to go back, but he figures out how to make the most of the next two years. That is until disaster strikes.

For those who want character-driven storylines, you’ll find Stowaway more than worth the almost two-hour runtime. It is predictable in parts, but the emotion from each of the characters makes up for it.
