5 shows and movies on Amazon to watch this week: Without Remorse and more
We end one month and we go into another. What is available to watch on Amazon? Here are the five top shows and movies on Amazon for the week. April 26–May 2, 2021.
It’s a good week to have Amazon Prime Video. Saturday sees the start of a new month, but there’s still plenty to arrive throughout the last few days of April. On top of that, some of the Amazon Channels have movies and shows to check out.
There is likely one movie on this list that you’ve highly anticipated this year. Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse has a stellar cast and promises to be the high-energy movie you need right now to escape the world outside.
Then there are a few old favorites arriving on the first of the month, while Acorn TV and STARZ offer a few selections to check out. The list across the board can get overwhelming, which is why we’re reducing it to just five shows and movies on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Channels to watch this week.
Without Remorse and more shows and movies on Amazon to watch
Without Remorse
We start with the Amazon Original Movie that we’ve all been waiting for. Michael J. Jordan takes on the role of John Kelly, a Navy SEAL who is out for revenge against those who killed his pregnant wife. When he’s given the opportunity, he realizes that there is a much bigger conspiracy going on.
Now he may need to protect his country instead of getting revenge. Which option will he choose?
Watch Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse on Friday, April 30.
Resident Evil
Based on the video game franchise, Resident Evil takes us into the world of zombies. A company has created biotech that has unleashed zombies into the world. Now one woman will need to take down the company, while protecting herself from the zombies.
The second movie in the franchise is also available, so we are technically cheating with this list. There are more movies in the franchise, but not all are arriving on Amazon Prime Video.
Watch Resident Evil and its sequel on Amazon Prime Video on Saturday, May 1.
Arrival
If aliens arrived on Earth, would they really be able to communicate with us? That’s something Arrival looks into. When 12 spaceships mysteriously appear, the government can’t communicate. They need the help of a linguistics specialist and her team to interpret.
Amy Adams shines in this sci-fi thriller. Even if you don’t like sci-fi usually, there’s plenty of other genres mixed in, and there is a whole lot of emotion.
Watch the movie on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, April 28.
Ned Kelly
Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom star in this movie based on a true story. Ledger plays the titular Ned Kelly, a man who is forced into the wild with his range after a police constable places the blame on him after being threatened. The gang is forced to remain hidden, even when his whole family is arrested.
It’s the story of how an innocent man became one of the country’s most wanted criminals. The biggest reason to watch this movie though is to see how likable Ledger makes Ned Kelly.
Watch on STARZ via Amazon Channels on Friday, April 30.
Bäckström
We get to the TV show on the list of shows and movies on Amazon to watch this week. You’ll need Acorn TV for this, and unlike some of the other releases like Keeping Faith Season 3, this is a binge-watch for you. All six episodes drop at once.
Based on the novels by Leif GW Persson, the series follows Detective Evert Bäckström. He’s a rockstar among the detectives with a 99% success rate for all cases. He also has the ego to match. When a woman’s skull is found, the case is thrown on its head. The skull looks like she was recently murdered but DNA connects her to the 2004 tsunami. Could she have died twice or is it all just a mistake?
Binge-watch the series from Monday, April 26.
