It’s time for another week, which means more searching for shows and movies on Amazon to watch. Here are the five top picks for the week.
There isn’t much when it comes to Amazon Prime Video. We have to turn to the Amazon Channels add-ons to find extra great content to check out during the week. It’s going to be worth looking into them, though.
Whether you want a long-running TV crime drama or you’re looking for a meaningful movie, you’re covered. It’s time to narrow down your options.
The top 5 TV shows and movies on Amazon to check out from April 19–25, 2021
We start with the option on Amazon Prime Video and then moved onto IMDb TV and into the Amazon Channels options.
Venus and Serena
You’ve seen the Williams sisters play tennis. Both of them are full of determination and skill, but where did their love of the sport come from? What’s made them into the duo that they are today, both as singles champions and in doubles?
That’s something Venus and Serena looks into. The biographical movie looks at their childhood to understand their drive and success.
Watch on Wednesday, April 21 on Amazon Prime Video.
Carol
Rooney Mara stars as Therese Belivet, an aspiring photographer who works at a Manhatten department store. She runs into Carol (Cate Blanchett) and starts to develop strong feelings for her.
There’s a problem. This is set in the 1950s when their love is forbidden. And then there’s the question of whether Carol feels the same way for Therese.
Check out the movie on Tuesday, April 20 on IMDb TV.
NCIS
The great news recently has been that NCIS Season 19 is happening, but it’s going to be with Mark Harmon in a limited role. That means we’re possibly getting to storylines that will write him out of leading the team. So, you’ll want to check out the episodes.
The great news is there’s a new episode of NCIS this week. It’s the first of the shows and movies on Amazon Channels to watch. You can catch it live on Paramount+ on Tuesday, April 20 at 8/7c or you can watch on-demand through the same streamer the following day.
Off the Beaten Track
If you like docuseries, there are two on the list for this week. The first is on Acorn TV and is called Off the Beaten Track. It’s the second season following Kate Humble and her Welsh Sheepdog, Teg.
Together, they explore the beautiful Welsh countryside, looking at how the landscapes are shaped and how the people who live and play in the area use the land. It’s time to see some of the areas that tend to be overlooked and forgotten, with plenty of personal stories from the locals.
All four episodes are available from Monday, April 19.
Antiques Roadshow
There’s something special about items around our homes. Antiques Roadshow offers us some of the stories of the items people have found. In some cases, they’re items found in the attic, but other times, they’re items that people remember their grandparents using.
This new season takes us into the history behind the items. Experts share when they were made and how valuable they are.
You can watch the episodes on BritBox from Tuesday, April 20.
