What’s coming to DVD and Blu-ray this week: Traces Season 1 and more

While the list of DVD and Blu-ray releases isn’t that long for April, there are still some exciting additions. Traces and more are coming to DVD this week.

There is something for everyone during this week’s releases. Whether you want horror, crime drama, or something for the whole family, you’re covered.

Traces Season 1 is certainly one of the bigger releases. The six-part series is set in and around Dundee, Scotland, and follows a lab technician who is given a fictional case while she learns the basics of forensics. However, it turns out that the case may not be all that fictional. In fact, it could link to her missing mother.

With her two professors, the student delves into the mystery. All she wants to know is what happened to her family, but she soon realizes there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

Shadow in the Cloud, The Reckoning, and more on DVD and Blu-ray

For those who prefer action, you’ll want to check out Shadow in the Cloud. The story follows Maude Garret on a special mission during the Second World War. She boards a B17 Flying Fortress and is naturally treated with sexist and misogynistic comments by the all-male crew.

When the warplane is invaded by a paranormal phenomenon, Maude must help the women-hating men. Of course, she needs to destroy the plane to preserve her life and her mission.

When it comes to horror, The Reckoning is something to check out. A young woman is left widowed when her husband kills himself after being stricken with a deadly virus. She falls behind on rent and has a landlord who wants sexual favors in return for not being evicted, but she manages to figure something out on her own.

Of course, because she turns him down, her landlord decides to claim she’s a witch. Get ready for some extreme physical and mental torture.

Earwig and the Witch is something for those looking for a movie for the whole family. A 10-year-old orphan, Earwig, is adopted by a strange couple, and she’s promised to learn magic as long as she helps around the house. Of course, that’s not what happens at all.

When she realizes she’s being held captive, she needs to fight against her captors and take control of the house.
