With the start of a new month, there is plenty to work through on Amazon Prime Video. Avoid the overwhelm with these five movies on Amazon this weekend.

The one good thing about the start of the month is the big drop of movies and TV shows on Amazon. The downside is the big drop of movies and TV shows on Amazon. Yes, it’s a catch-22 situation.

You want the choice, but that choice becomes overwhelming. You need to find a way to narrow down the shows and movies on Amazon to watch.

The good news is we have you covered for the weekend. We’ve narrowed down the list to five movies to check out. Three of them are on Amazon Prime Video and two are on Amazon’s free streaming service, IMDb TV.

Which movies on Amazon should you watch this week?

The Ghost Writer

Let’s start with a political thriller. The Ghost Writer stars Ewan McGregor as the Ghost. He ghostwrites projects for everyone and is always sworn to secrecy. When he gets the offer to write the memoirs of one of the prime ministers, he can’t pass up the opportunity.

However, he soon realizes that he’s not the first to work on this project. As he uncovers secrets, he realizes that his predecessor may not have died of natural causes. Can he protect his own life?

Platoon

When it comes to movies about the Vietnam War, there is one that always stands out. It’s all about Platoon. It comes to Amazon now and again, and it’s just arrived again this week.

The story follows a platoon that faces the horrors of the Vietnam War. It’s gritty, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s harrowing. There are also some comedic moments that you’ll always remember. Whether you’ve never watched it before or you’ve watched it a million times, spend the weekend watching it again.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

How about a period drama? Russell Crowe, Paul Bettany, and Billy Boyd are among the cast on Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, Captain Jack Aubrey sets out with a task that becomes far more dangerous and deadlier than he ever expected.

He’s tasked with finding a missing French war vessel. However, his own ship suffers heavy damage, and now he needs to do everything he can to keep his crew safe.

The Bone Collector

We turn to IMDb TV for the next two movies on Amazon. The first is The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. Washington is Lincoln Rhyme, an amazing detective who ends up making a major mistake in the hunt for the Bone Collector that leaves him paralyzed.

When the Bone Collector returns, he is pulled to the case. He can’t let his nemesis win again. This time, he has the driven Amelia Donaghy to help him, and maybe seeing things from a lower point has its advantages.

Burn After Reading

How about a comedy? Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and John Malkovich are among the star-studded cast leading Burn After Reading, and it is a must.

When two gym employees find a CD that has the memoirs of a CIA agent, they decide to sell the memoirs back to the guy. However, that fails, and so they decide to sell the details to the Russian embassy. Yes, they certainly bite off far more than they can chew.
