American Gods got back to the source material during the penultimate episode. Shadow finally figured out what was going on in Lakeside, finding out that someone in the town had been sacrificing children almost every December for decades.

He brings an end to the murders and disappearances. However, it also means the town’s good fortune also comes to an end. That’s not a bad thing considering where the good fortune came from, but it is sad for all the innocent people there.

While that happened, Laura went on her mission to kill Odin. Did she manage to succeed? Oh yes, and that’s where we pick things up in the American Gods Season 3 finale.

What to expect on the American Gods Season 3 finale

The Gods are in mourning. Well, the Old Gods are in mourning.

It’s time for Shadow to fulfil the vigil, which means being tied to the tree for nine days. This will be impossible for a human, but Shadow is supposed to be Odin’s son. Is this where Shadow realizes that he really is a god? Will the others recognize him after this?

We’ll also get to see more of Bilquis. She’s had a big journey already this season, but we’ve stepped off the gas for a couple of episodes. It’s time for her big revelation, but what will that be? Will it be linked to Shadow or will it be linked to Mr. World?
