One of the highly anticipated TV shows of 2021 has to be Lena Waithe’s Them. Here’s everything we know about the release date, cast, trailer, and more.

The anthology horror series was picked up with a straight-to-series order. And Amazon had such high hopes for the show that it immediately gave it a two-season order. We’re only getting the first season right now, which is officially titled Them: Covenant. The second season’s title hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Waithe won’t star in the series, but she has executive produced it. Little Marvin is also executive producer and writer on the series.

If you love the likes of Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us, you’re going to want to check out this series. Here’s what we know about the series so far.

Them: Covenant release date

Them Season 1 now has an official release date. It’s heading our way on Friday, April 9. There really isn’t that long to wait for it.

Them: Covenant cast

Deborah Ayorinde and Ashley Thomas headline the series as a Black couple (Lucky and Henry Emory) moving into a white area in 1950s America. Naturally, they face tension from their white neighbors, but it’s not just about the normal forces at work. There are supernatural forces against them, too.

The following also star in the series:

  • Shahadi Wright Joseph as Ruby Emory
  • Melody Hurd as Gracie Emory
  • Ryan Kwanten as George Bell
  • Christopher Heyerdahl as Hiram Epps
  • Alison Pill as Betty Wendell
  • Abbie Cobb as Nat Dixon
  • Sophie Guest as Doris

Them: Covenant trailer

So far, a teaser trailer has been released. It certainly gives everyone a sense of what to expect from the series, including that feeling of Us and Lovecraft Country.

There isn’t a full trailer just yet, but I don’t quite think this show needs a full trailer. The teaser is enough to get you intrigued about this show. If Amazon does drop a full trailer before the release date, we’ll be sure to share it.

Them: Covenant synopsis

The series is focused on terror. While there is a supernatural element to it, there is also the normal, everyday terror. The story is rooted in human lives, and while initially it looks to be a story of white people terrorizing their new Black neighbors, there’s something slightly different.

Little Marvin explained to TVLine that there is something safe about being at home, being with family. What happens when that place is no longer safe?

That’s something the Emory family will experience when supernatural forces attack.
