Will The Mauritanian come to Amazon Prime Video?

The Mauritanian is currently in theaters and available on VOD. Is there a chance the STX movies will head to Amazon Prime Video in the future?

It’s hard to say if The Mauritanian will definitely come to Amazon Prime Video or not. In the United States, STX Entertainment got the distribution rights, which offers some hope. Some STX movies have headed to Amazon Prime Video in the past.

In the UK and parts of Europe, the release is definitely going to be on Amazon Prime Video. Those in the UK can watch the movie on Prime on April 1, 2021 (not an April Fool’s joke).

Is The Mauritanian good?

You’ll find the movie, based on a true story, will come to DVD and Blu-ray first. However, it’s likely to come to streaming six to 12 months after the theatrical release date, depending on the platform and the contract.

It has received mixed reviews from the critics but more on the positive side, with a 70% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences are more positive about it, with it getting an 84% approval rating.

Tahar Rahim’s acting has been praised, and he was nominated for a Golden Globe. Jodie Foster won the Golden Globe for her performance in the movie in her category.

It is a movie that will make you somewhat uncomfortable due to the topic. Sometimes you need to be uncomfortable to help further your knowledge into the actions of people in the past and present.
