Want to check out The Mauritanian? Waiting to add it to your DVD and Blu-ray collection? Here’s all you need to know about The Mauritanian on DVD and Blu-ray.

There’s no reason not to believe that The Mauritanian won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray. While it is in both theaters and available to rent on VOD, movies are still getting DVD release dates. And in the majority of cases, they’re following the traditional patterns.

Of course, it’s only just released. There isn’t a release date just yet, but we can project a release date based on other movies from the same distribution studio.

The Mauritanian is a STXFilms release. We’re looking at the likes of The Gentlemen and Hustlers to get an idea of the DVD schedule.

When to expect The Mauritanian on DVD and Blu-ray

Both The Gentlemen and Hustlers came to DVD about three months after the theatrical release date. In fact, it was the Tuesday before the three-month mark.

Since the Jodie Foster movie was released on Friday, Feb. 12, we’re probably looking at the middle of May for the DVD release. If I had to predict an exact date, I’d say Tuesday, May 11.

I will include an update when the release date is confirmed.

What is the movie about?

The legal drama is based on the memoir Guantánamo Diary by Mohamedou Ould Salahi. It is based on Salahi’s real experiences while at Gentanamo Bay detained for 14 years without charge.

In the movie, a defense attorney, her associate, and a military prosecutor look into the case of a man suspected as a 9/11 terrorist. He’s been in Gentanamo Bay for six years without trial, and they have to figure out if there’s some sort of conspiracy and the man is innocent or if this guy really did commit the crimes he’s suspected of.

It’s certainly a powerful movie to watch. Check out the trailer below:
