Will The Wheel of Time come to Amazon in 2021?
We’ve waited since 2019 for any news about when The Wheel of Time will be on Amazon Prime Video. Could it arrive in 2021?
We know that the series is going to be worth the wait. Amazon productions do well with fantasy stories, mostly thanks to the budget available. Plus, shows that focus on quality and not speed tend to bring out the best productions in the end.
However, we’re impatient people. We’ve been waiting since 2019 for the book series to be adapted. Will we have to wait until 2022 for the show?
It’s time to look at the potential for the series to come out sometime this year.
The Wheel of Time is close to finishing filming
The series is one of those hit by the pandemic. Production shut down in March when production on everything shut down for safety. It did get to start back up again during 2020, but it was shut down again due to positive tests.
That’s okay! The Wheel of Time has filmed six out of its eight episodes, according to Inverse. This does mean there’s a strong chance that the series will arrive sometime in 2021.
It takes about a month to film two episodes in the majority of cases. Sometimes it can take a little longer, especially with COVID-19 protocols. Then it takes a few months of post-production work—and a fantasy show like this will have a lot of that.
Late 2021 as a release date isn’t all that ridiculous to consider.
Will it be a weekly release format? Probably not. The Boys and The Expanse have been exceptions in their second seasons on Amazon (yes, The Expanse‘s recent season was Season 5, but it was the second Amazon season as the first three seasons were on SYFY).
We’ll be sure to keep an eye on the release. Make sure you’re following the Amazon Originals category for the latest updates about The Wheel of Time.
