Another Jenny Han novel is being adapted, and this time by Amazon Studios. Here’s what we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty so far.

Unlike the To All the Boys trilogy, this book is being adapted into a TV series. Lionsgate originally grabbed the rights in 2013, but those expired and now Amazon Studios has the rights, according to a report from Deadline.

There isn’t much we know so far, but that will change over time. This is going to become our hub of all information, with updates as we get them.

For now, this is what we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty so far.

The Summer I Turned Pretty release date

There isn’t a release date just yet, as the show is only in the initial pre-production stages of the series. It can take a couple of years to go from this stage to being ready for release, so we’re potentially looking at the end of 2022 or the start of 2023 at the earliest.

The show, which will have eight episodes, will likely drop at once instead of the weekly format that The Boys and The Expanse have done. However, this sounds to be something negotiable depending on the creative team.

The Summer I Turned Pretty cast

There is no cast attached to the series. Of course, as a To All the Boys fan, I would love to see Lana Candor take on the lead role, but that is unlikely.

Expect it to be a diverse cast, though. After all, that’s something Han’s books tend to offer within the writing.

Han is writing the first episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty. She is also the co-showrunner with Gabrielle Stanton.

Update: The series will arrive on Friday, June 17.

The Summer I Turned Pretty synopsis

The synopsis we can work out, as it will be based on the book series. It is a YA romance drama that also covers multiple generations. It all starts with a love triangle between two brothers and one girl.

The story is focused on a coming-of-age story for this one girl, as we follow her first love, first heartbreak, and the magic one summer can bring. Within that is a story of how a mother’s relationship with her children develops over time and the power of female friendships.
