What’s coming to Digital this week on Amazon Video? [Dec. 21–27]

Here’s what you’ll be able to buy or rent on Amazon Video this week

There isn’t much available to buy on Amazon Video this week. That doesn’t mean there’s going to be nothing to watch.

If you’re only interested in the Digital releases to buy or rent, there’s only one choice this week at the moment. Shortcut is going to arrive on Dec. 22.

The horror movie focuses on a group of teenagers on a school bus in rural England. The driver is forced to veer off the usual path when a tree suddenly falls down and blocks their path. However, that shortcut takes them to a road owned by a supernatural being who wants nothing more than the sacrifice on offer.

There may be more added to the list during the week as has happened in previous weeks. But for now, that’s the only movie arriving on Amazon Video.

Other new movies this week

Christmas week isn’t silent, though. There are some excellent new movies arriving in theaters and through other platforms.

News of the World stars Tom Hanks and is out in U.S. theaters on Dec. 25. It will eventually come to DVD and Digital. As it’s distributed by Universal Pictures, it will likely be March by the time the release happens.

You’ll also be able to watch Wonder Woman 1984. That’s getting both a theatrical and a HBO Max release on Christmas Day. There’s no way you’ll want to miss the epic sequel.

Need something a little more heartfelt and quieter for the kids? Soul is coming to Disney Plus. While it’s not available on Amazon Video, it’s certainly worth considering.

Digital releases will hopefully start to pick up soon. It’s been hard with so many movies pushed to 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic.
